• 6 "I myself have installed my king on Zion, my holy hill."
• 7 The king says, "I will announce the LORD'S decree. He said to me: 'You are my son! This very day I have become your father!
• 8 Ask me, and I will give you the nations as your inheritance, the ends of the earth as your personal property.
• 9 You will break them with an iron scepter; you will smash them like a potter's jar!'"
• 10 So now, you kings, do what is wise; you rulers of the earth, submit to correction!
• 11 Serve the LORD in fear! Repent in terror!
• 12 Give sincere homage! Otherwise he will be angry, and you will die because of your behavior, when his anger quickly ignites. How blessed are all who take shelter in him!

• 5 He speaks to them in anger, and it fills them with fear.
• 6 He says, "I have chosen this man to be king, and he will rule on Zion, my holy mountain."
• 7 Let me tell you about the Lord's agreement: He said to me, "Today I have become your father, and you are my son.
• 8 If you ask, I will give you the nations. Everyone on earth will be yours.
• 9 You will rule over them with great power. You will scatter your enemies like broken pieces of pottery!"
• 10 So, kings and rulers, be smart and learn this lesson.
• 11 Serve the Lord with fear and trembling.
• 12 Show that you are loyal to his son, or the Lord will be angry and destroy you. He is almost angry enough to do that now, but those who go to him for protection will be blessed.

• 10 Now therefore understand, ye kings: be instructed, all ye that judge the earth.
• 11 Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice in him with trembling.
• 12 Note.—This rendering or a similar one the Jews maintain Accept correction, lest at any time the Lord be angry, and ye should perish from the righteous way: whensoever his wrath shall be suddenly kindled, blessed are all they that trust in him.

• 5 Then He will speak to them in His anger and make them afraid, saying,
• 6 "But as for Me, I have set My King on Zion, My holy mountain."
• 7 I will make known the words of the Lord. He said to Me, "You are My Son. Today I have become Your Father.
• 8 Ask of Me, and I will give the nations for you to own. The ends of the earth will belong to You.
• 9 You will break them using a piece of iron. And they will be broken in pieces like pots of clay."
• 10 So, kings, be wise. Listen, you rulers of the earth.
• 11 Serve the Lord with fear, and be full of joy as you shake in fear.
• 12 Kiss the Son. Be afraid that He may be angry and destroy you in the way. For His anger is quick. Happy are all who put their trust in Him.

• 5 Then the Lord warns them and frightens them with his anger.
• 6 He says, "I have appointed my own king to rule in Jerusalem on my holy mountain, Zion."
• 7 Now I will tell you what the Lord has declared: He said to me, "You are my son. Today I have become your father.
• 8 If you ask me, I will give you the nations; all the people on earth will be yours.
• 9 You will rule over them with an iron rod. You will break them into pieces like pottery."
• 10 So, kings, be wise; rulers, learn this lesson.
• 11 Obey the Lord with great fear. Be happy, but tremble.
• 12 Show that you are loyal to his son, or you will be destroyed by his anger, because he can quickly become angry. But happy are those who trust him for protection. David sang this when he ran away from his son Absalom.

• 12 Pay homage to the Son, or He will be angry, and you will perish in your rebellion, for His anger may ignite at any moment. All those who take refuge in Him are happy.
